Welcome to our Dark Art Contest.
This is a realm where artists of all kinds can push the boundaries of reality and dive into the shadows of expression. Here, no form of art is overlooked, no medium too obscure.
The contest is open to all types of artists—whether your work is in painting, sculpture, digital art, or other dark forms of creativity. There will be no distinctions between categories, and only one overall winner will emerge from the darkness…

Contest Rules and Everything You Need to Know

The contest will remain open until December 24th.
We will evaluate the artworks and announce the winner on January 2nd, via social media, our website, and we will notify the winner by email.

- Free participation in our Obscura BCN 2025 art fair.
Note: We are not responsible for the shipping of artworks, but we will create digital reproductions of works if necessary, depending on the artistic category. - Representation in our virtual gallery.
The winner’s artwork will be showcased in our e-commerce platform and featured within our dark online gallery, which receives over 1,000 views per week. Our gallery benefits from shared SEO, amplifying the artist’s reach to a wider, engaged audience. We will also actively promote their work, ensuring their art finds its place among those who seek the unknown.
- Printing of a Dark A6 book, which will include: The artist’s biography, an exclusive interview and a small catalog of their work. The artist will receive 25 copies of the book, with additional copies sold through our website. The book will be sold individually and in exclusive packs alongside established artists such as Gustave Doré and William Blake, as part of our strategy to promote emerging talents in the shadows.
- An exclusive interview that will be published on our blog.
The winner will have the chance to share their story, process, and thoughts with a broader audience that craves the darker sides of art and life. - Promotion on all our social media platforms, reaching a vast audience and casting light on the winner’s work through the dark corners of our community.
Participation procedure
Fill out the form and upload up to 3 images to participate in the contest. Once the contest deadline has passed, we will evaluate the artworks and announce the winner on January 2nd, via social media, our website, and we will notify the winner by email.
The contest has a symbolic fee, and the details can be found in the following section.
Participation Fee
To enter, there is a symbolic fee of 5 euros, an amount that will help us keep the contest alive in the darkness. We know that for many, this may be a small sacrifice, but it is the only way we can bring this contest to life and offer these opportunities to artists. We appreciate your support in this dark initiative and thank you for your entry.
Judges
Dark Art Gallery Co-founders Ariadna Royo and Ameera Mills.
- Ariadna Royo, art historian, specializing in medieval art and an Art Advisor and Appraisals by Christie’s auction house. She has judged 4 contests at the FotoNostrum art gallery.
- Ameera Mills, a Theatre and Arts Management graduate with vast experience in editing, writing, and art sales. For over 7 years she has worked in art galleries, also serving as a judge in 6 contests at the FotoNostrum gallery.
