Meet the artist

Mauro Hernández, Madrid, Spain, 1995, is a visual artist with a background in Fine Arts from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, where he contributed as an Honorary Collaborator in the Department of Drawing and Printmaking from 2019 to 2021.

Drawing heavily from the human and animal figure, his pieces explore encounters with the unknown—pursuing unreachable truths and the essence of existence. This journey imbues his creations with a dreamlike and poetic quality, evoking the profound and the enigmatic.

The spontaneity of drawing forms the cornerstone of his practice, serving as both a medium for raw expression and an intimate gateway into the creative process. Each line is a testament to fleeting thoughts, becoming an essential element in the genesis and culmination of his works.

Mauro’s dedication to his craft has been recognized through accolades like The Fine Art Collective Grant in 2018 and residencies at San Millán de la Cogolla (La Rioja) and Villa de Ayllón (Segovia). His works are held in prominent collections, including the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo of Ayllón, and the Cilengua Collection at the Centro Internacional de Investigación de la Lengua Española in La Rioja.
